Blades make it four wins in a row to move six points clear of second placed Burnley
Sheffield United extended their lead at the top of the Championship to six points with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.
James McAtee's first-half goal was enough to secure a fourth consecutive win for the Blades, who are now six points clear of second-placed Burnley.
Hull, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone after a fifth defeat in their last six games.
McAtee's goal the difference in tight encounter
The game was a tight affair throughout, with both sides having chances to win it.
But it was McAtee who proved to be the match-winner, scoring the only goal of the game in the 25th minute.
The former Manchester City youngster latched onto a through ball from Oli McBurnie and fired a low shot past Hull goalkeeper Matt Ingram.
Blades hold on for important three points
Hull responded well to going behind and had a number of chances to equalise in the second half.
But the Blades defence held firm and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham made a number of important saves to preserve his clean sheet.
In the end, Sheffield United held on for a hard-fought 1-0 victory, which moved them six points clear at the top of the Championship.
Hull's struggles continue
Hull, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone after a fifth defeat in their last six games.
The Tigers have now won just one of their last 10 league games and are in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle.
With just 12 games remaining, Hull need to start picking up points if they want to avoid the drop.
